The Costa del Sol, the Sun Coast, is the coast of the province of Málaga in southern Spain. This area along the Mediterranean Sea extends from Estepona, western of Málaga city to Nerja in the east.
Málaga is the main town on the coast and also separates the popular western part of the resorts of Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Marbella, Mijas, Manilva and Estepona and the eastern part of the places Torre del Mar, Velez-Málaga and Nerja .
Due to the pleasant climate and over 300 days of sunshine per year, the Costa del Sol has become a popular holiday destination. Except for sun and sand, it's also an ideal place to pass cold winters.
The famous resorts of Torremolinos and Marbella are big attraction poles, but the smaller towns of Nerja and Torrox located east of the Málaga take in popularity. Each seaside resort has its own charm, sights and attractions.
The beautiful hinterland of the Costa del Sol also offers many possibilities for trips and excursions.
